Journey Grads Retreat: 17th to 24th July 2005

Calvados, Normandie, France (45mn from Caen)

We are planning an informal Journey Grads retreat in beautiful Coeur de Combray, just a half hour from the coast of Normandie. Coeur de Combray is a converted French farmhouse on the edge of a lake, set in quiet and beautiful countryside.

The retreat is for Journey Grads; the plan is to hang out together, cook and eat together, meditate together, go for walks (or runs, or bike rides) in the countryside, and, of course, to process together, as much or as little as we wish. If anyone turns up who can lead a yoga group, then we might do that, too! (or anything else anyone wants to offer).

Coeur de Combray is run by John, who is English, but who lives in France permanently with his cat and dog, and who has been using grace for more than 15 years now to prove wrong the doctors who only gave him weeks to live, as a result of kidney cancer. He had the diagnosis when he was in his early 40s, and will celebrate his 60th birthday while we are there!

If you would like to see more details of Coeur de Combray, click here, and then click the various other links on that site. You'll see that it is a place for sloooowww holidays!

During this week Coeur de Combray has one two-room gite available, which has a double bed and a double sofa bed in the living room, so could take two couples. There is also a double bedroom and a twin bedroom available in John's own house (between the mill streams!) John needs £240 for the gite, and probably €100 per person for people not in the gite. We may discuss amongst ourselves how this evens out! We will be self-catering, and we'll share the cost of food. We'll probaby go to the market in St Pierre sur Dives on Monday morning to buy our food for the week. The costs will depend very much on how many people come. The accomodation could house 3 couples, two people in the twin, and me on John's floor! So we could be 9 people.

There is also MASSES of room for camping, so we could be even more! Prices for camping are open to (pretty easy) negotiation! I'd like for us all to be able to negotiate around costs (could bring up some interest "process fodder"!) so that no-one felt excluded, and everyone felt that they had got value for money.

The ferry crossing from England is Portsmouth to Caen (Ouistreham). You can bring a car (there's plenty of car-parking space), or come as a foot passenger, and we will pick you up at the ferry port.

If you would like to come for less than the whole week, then please let us know. Priority will be given to people who do want to stay for the whole week, but we'll be happy to fit "short-stay" retreaters in the spaces around the rest!

This isn't a workshop, and it won't be led. Whether you're a Senior Accredited Journey Practitioner, or you only did the Journey Intensive a week ago, we're all equal on this retreat! ... and, of course, it's open to any Journey Grad, from anywhere in the world (but we'll mainly be processing in English, unless you bring someone with you who speaks your language!)
